Meet Our Team
Sam Walker | President
Sam is a dedicated dog trainer with over 10 years of professional experience. She has a life-long passion for helping animals and people. As a professional member of the International Association of Canine Professionals, Sam prides herself on staying on the cutting edge of animal behavioral science and dedicating herself fully to the most effective training tools and techniques.
Sam founded ODSD in the fall of 2022 after her father was diagnosed with PTSD. Sam’s father is a proud Marine Corp veteran, but the invisible scars he carried home from operation Desert Storm have plagued him for decades. Her father introduced her to dog training when she was only 4 years old and he always encouraged her passion for animals. Though his diagnosis is recent, the symptoms of his disorder were ever present throughout Sam’s childhood.
ODSD trains service dogs and provides service dogs to veterans at no cost to them in hopes that one day no Veteran will ever have to suffer alone. Sam is extremely dedicated to this organization and works everyday to place exceptional dogs into the hands of deserving individuals.
Jordan Foy | Treasurer
Jordan is the treasurer for On Duty Service Dogs. She has over a decade of experience working in financial institutions.
She joined ODSD because she is passionate supporting Veterans at no cost to them. As a daughter, granddaughter, and sister of military Vets ODSD’s is personal to Jordan and she is dedicated to continuing to grow the organization.
Ashley Carter | Secretary
Ashley is from Richlands, North Carolina and has nearly 2 decades of experience working in medical offices.
Ashley and her husband Casey are proud dog parents to a pair of Australian Shepherd/Border Collies named Layla and Bennie. Layla, named after the Eric Clapton song, is black, white and gray and has brown eyes. Bennie, named for the Elton John song, is brown and white and has one brown eye and one pearly blue eye. She uses it to stare you down while wagging her tail when she's ready to go outside!
Ashley and Casey transformed their lives to give Layla and Bennie the best possible care, and Ashley will strive to offer that same level of dedication as ODSD’s Secretary.
Sarah Brinson | Public Relations
Sarah works in customer service and is married to a U.S. Army Veteran. As a part of the community, Sarah has seen first hand and understands some of the difficulties that people who have served in the armed forces face on a daily basis.
Sarah whole-heartedly believes in our mission, and that all Veterans whose lives could be improved by the companionship and tasks that these wonderful animals provide should have the access to them.
She is proud to have the opportunity to help provide service dogs to U.S. Vets that perhaps may not be able to afford one of these amazing animals on their own. Sarah is happy to be able to donate a portion of her time and expertise to helping ODSD give back to those who have given so much of themselves for us.
Alex DeRosa | Tech Admin
Alex has always loved animals and started volunteering at animal shelters at a young age. She became disabled in 2020 and began researching service dogs later that year. After deciding that a service dog would help her, she found Hope Service Dogs (who donated our first dog, Cal) and was paired with her service dog, Calli, a standard poodle.
After owner training for about a year, Alex brought Calli to Sam for a 5 week board-and-train. Over the past year, Alex and Sam have bonded over their shared love of dogs and passion for helping others. As ODST’s tech admin, Alex brings her years of experience as a graphic designer, photographer, and product manager to the organization.
Alex knows firsthand how much a service dog can improve someone’s life, and is passionate about making service dogs more accessible to veterans. She and her husband Brandon are currently puppy raising our second dog, Bobby Bravo, who was donated by Carolyn’s Poodles, and is Calli’s half-brohter.
Joe Fedele | Publicist
Joe is an individual with a fascination for the connection between humans and canines. From watching family movies with dogs as a youth to volunteering at shelters he was always someone who wanted to contribute however he can.
Upon seeing On Duty Service Dogs for Veterans his calling had arrived since he moved to Florida. After meeting with Sam and seeing her passion, dedication, and care for this organization, Joe wanted to help achieve the goal of getting service dogs to vets and no cost to them nationwide.
Joe has a background in Broadcast Journalism and Public Relations for his collegiate degrees. He has also done work in Voice Over, Commercial Work, Master of Ceremonies, Hosting, Reporting, and other activities both in front and behind the camera. Joe wishes to bring these skillsets to help aid the organization and fellow board members to reaching the standards set by the core ethos of everyone involved at On Duty Service Dogs for Veterans.
